The Human Condition

Forgive me for the following, but I’m feeling especially philosophical today.

Parental love is the most instinctual and powerful, but it is not the most astounding. Love shared by two people is an amazing thing. I’m not talking about momentary passion or lust. I’m talking about real love that endures the test of time. Our modern world is a complicated place and human beings are confronted with more obstacles than any other creatures on earth. In nature only rivals, scarcity, offspring, predation and the physical environment impact relationships. In contrast human beings deal with complex societal norms, politics, language, economics, familial dynamics, religion, culture, and countless other influences as well as those confronted in nature.

When two people connect while wading through a sea of obstacles it is amazing. When that special bond endures over great spans of time it is both miraculous and beautiful. When viewed from a distance it is as awe inspiring as any natural wonder. Humanity amazes me.

It has been human nature to save, alter, and collect precious items that holds emotional attachments for us. Nature
